Autograph Signature with Photograph

Autograph signature from the great composer, who has written "To Charly Smith / Sincerely / Igor Stravinsky," paired together with an unusual four-frame unsigned photograph, showing him conducting on his 85th birthday, 1967.  Signature on a card measuring 3 x 5 inches (7.6 x 12.7 centimeters). Photograph in good condition, with with light red staining and markings from publication and newspaper clippings affixed to verso.  8 x 10 inches (21.5 x 17 centimeters).

"Deeply grieved by the loss of my oldest friend" - Condolence Telegram Upon Monteux's Death

Extraordinary original telegram addressed to the widow of Pierre Monteaux, sent the day of his death (Jul 1 1964, 7:25 PM).  Stravinsky writes, in full, "Deeply grieved by the loss of my oldest friend in music and everybody's loss of this greatest conductor the passing of this man is also the passing of an era."  8 x 5.75 inches (20.3 x 14.5 cm.).  Fine.  A powerful statement attesting to one of the most important musical partnerships of the twentieth century. 1946 Photograph Conducting Woody Herman

Oriignal 10 x 8 inch photograph of the composer at a rehearsal in the Paramount Theatre where he was conducting Woody Herman in a rehearsal of his "Ebony Concerto" for clarinet and swing band in advance of the performance on March 25, 1946 in Carnegie Hall. Stamped 2/2/46 on the verso, with later stamps and clippings, apparently published in the NY Times and with a few areas of in-painting within the image for publication. Overalll fine.

Collection of photographs of and relating to the great composer from the collection of Miranda Levy, founding member of the Santa Fe Opera and wife of pioneering television director Ralph Levy. The collection includes a postcard photograph of Marino Marini's 1951 bust sculpture of Stravinsky, inscribed in red pencil "To Miranda / Igor Stravinsky" adding in blue pencil "Kisses in blue"; three original photographs taken during rehearsals for a 1957 production of The Rake's Progress at Sante Fe Opera in New Mexico (various sizes, largest 8 x 10 inches); original candid photograph of the composer's wife Vera Stravinsky; candid color polaroid photograph of the composer with friends taken in Venice, Italy in 1960.  Together with Typed Letter Signed from Janet Wells to Miranda Levy (January 26, 1984;  1 pp. on Congdon & Weed stationary) reading in part "Enclosed are the photographs of Stravinsky you loaned us for our forthcoming publication."  Overall in fine condition. "An Oxford Elegy" and "Fantasia Quasi Variazione" Premiere Performance - SIGNED PROGRAM

Rare signed program from the private premiere performance of the important British composer's An Oxford Elegy and Fantasia Quasi Variazione, premiered at his house, The White Gates, on Sunday, November 20th, 1949 by the Tudor Singers, the Schwiller String Quartet, Steuart Wilson (Reciter) and pianist Michael Mullinar.  Composer's  bold signature in black ink to front page, together with an inscription at the foot in blue ink from George Blackford, a member of the Tudor Singers, which reads "It was my great good fortune to sing in the first performance of this beautiful music in Vaughan Williams' house on the 20/11/1949.  Such beauty have I known. / George Blackford."  4 pp. In fine condition, most unusual.

Concert program from a March, 1939 performance with the New York Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall, signed above the program listing by the German-Swiss violinist.  The all-Beethoven performance, which featured Busch as soloist for the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D major, also included Three Equali for Four Trombones and Symphony No. 6 in F major ("Pastoral").  8 pp.  Light vertical crease to middle, else in fine condition.  6 x 9 inches (15.2 x 22.9 cm.).
