Autograph signed quotation from the influential French actress and cabaret singer immortalized in a number of works by prominent Belle Époque poster artists Henri Toulouse-Lautrec and Jules Chéret, who has penned an excerpt from "Ma grand-mère" by French poet Pierre-Jean de Béranger, "Combien je regrette / mon bras si dodu / ma jambe bien faite / et le temps perdu! / from a chanson de Béranger: 'La Grand-mère / Yvette Guilbert / Le 1er October / 1906."  Edges toned and chipped not affecting text, paperclip stain to upper edge, else in fine condition.  6.25 x 8 inches (15.9 x 20.3 cm.).

"Piano Solos by Willie Smith The Lion of the Piano" - Signed LP

Signed 1961 Commodore LP (FL 30, 003) from the jazz pianist, inscribed "To Gus from Willie the Lion". The vinyl has not been tested but exhibits two scratches on the A side, left spine of sleeve with some wear, else fine.

Willie "The Lion" Smith was an American jazz pianist and one of the masters of the stride style, usually grouped with James P. Johnson and Thomas "Fats" Waller as the three greatest practitioners of the genre in its golden age, from about 1920 to 1943.

The Josh White Song Book: The Songs and Struggles of America's Greatest Folk Singer, by Robert Shelton, with Illustrations by Stu Gross, signed and inscribed by White to inner front cover. In full: "To my man Bill and his love Punkin. But we call her Lucious and you are / I wish you nothing but the best of good luck and loads of love always. Your guy / Josh." Paperback. 9 x 12 inches. 171pp.  Also includes a brief autograph comment from White at part 9 of the biography, about his testimony before the House Unamerican Activities Committee, HUAC; White was charged with singing for Communists after a tour of Europe. The discussion, mainly his defense, takes up 12 of Robert Shelton's 44 pages of history, and is annotated on page 30 "check this every bit ok? -JW".   Followed by 57 of Josh's songs with all the lyrics and music, including the definitive "Delia's Gone" and a superb version of "In the Pines"/Little Girl", here as "Black Girl." Heavy wear to spine and cover extremeties, else fine.
