Rare original deluxe program printed on satin for the Royal Opera House Centenary performance in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, Tuesday June 10th, 1958.  The performance included performances by Callas, Sutherland, Vickers and others, under the batons of Kubelik, Downes, Pritchard and others, as well as ballet performances by Fonteyn, Ashton, Nerida and others.  11 x 21 inches, produced by British Nylon Spinners Ltd., designed by Pater Hatch, Royal Coat of Arms drawn by Rex Whistler and Printed by William Clowes & Sons Ltd. on Nylon Satin.  Toned and with some stray threads around the edges, but overall in very good condition.

Striking signed matte photograph of the great composer, shown elegantly seated at the keyboard, boldly signed in black fountain pen ink across the lower blank margin, "Sincerely, George Gershwin."  Smudge to inscription, some creasing to upper margin and diagonally across the image from right side, else in fine condition.  10 x 8 inches (25.4 x 20.3 cm.).

Enormous wreath or symbolic crown of artificial oak leaves with acorns and gold ornaments, with wide ribbons embroidered with the inscription "La Société Royale d’Harmonie d’Anvers à Charles Gounod, Témoignage d’admiration" and the date of 1879, framed with a printed card and original event ribbons under glass in its original massive black wood frame (diameter 48 cm, 65 x 65 cm) as presented to and owned by the composer himself. Autograph album leaf signed by the Australian-born pianist, conductor, and composer best known for his folk settings and colorfully experimental works.  The album leaf has been mounted together with a trimmed halftone photograph to a larger album leaf.  The autograph's recipient has dated the signature to November 5, 1942.  In fine condition.  6.75 x 5 inches (17.1 x 12.7 cm.).

Original cabinet photograph by Louis Held, showing Liszt in his study at Weimar.  Wear to corners, else in fine condition.  6.5 x 4.25 inches (16.5 x 11 cm.).

Approximately one year after Liszt passed, his residence in Weimar, the Hofgartnerai, became a museum.  The room remains effectively unchanged from when the present photograph was taken.

"Angels Making Music" – 17th Century Ink Drawing

Original 17th century ink drawing by the French Baroque artist, depicting a scene of angels playing a flute, cello, violin and lyre.  Inscribed "Mignard" to the lower right corner.  This example is a closely related work to the drawing "Angelic Concert in the Clouds" held in the Staedel Museum, Frankfurt.  Indian ink washed on paper.  Mounted on paper with remains of mounting on verso, waterstain at upper and lower left and some toning.  Irregularly trimmed.  Overall fine condition.  9.25 x 13.75 inches (23.2 x 35.1 cm.), mounted to an overall size of 19.75 x 13.75 inches (50.2 x 34.9 cm.). Beautiful 19th century hand-carved corozo nut perfume bottle with beautifully rendered string, flutes and horn instruments and flower bouquet reliefs.  Original screw cap present, decorated with flowers around the edge.  In fine condition.  2.25 x 1.75 inches (5.5 x 4.5 cm.).

Large original Steinberg drawing of a violinist attentively playing his violin in front of a music stand, one leg raised with foot on a stool, a grouping of other stands and chairs in the background, where a cellist may also be seen.  In ink on paper, ca. 1941–42.  In fine condition.  12.5 x 18.5 inches (31.8 x 47 cm.). Unsigned.
