Original vintage Keystone Press photograph, dated 8-8-1967 on the verso and with affixed press stub reading: "Three Of The Beatles Attend Lecture By Maharishi Mahesh Yogi: Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who is in London for a farewell visit on his eighth and final world tour, after which he is retiring from public life, last night spoke on the essential role of transcendental meditation in modern life at a public lecture at the Hilton Hotel in London. Among those listening to him were three of the Beatles, Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison. Maharishi lived as a recluse for many years in the Himalayas, but became concerned by the increasing tensions, suffering and strife in the modern world, that he left his seclusion to come out and teach the technique of transcendental meditation."  8.25 x 6.25 inches. Very fine.

Two Signed Jazz Prints

Set of two lively jazz prints by the celebrated jazz illustrator whose work graced many of the Verve, Mercury, Clef etc. jazz album covers of the 1950s, one showing a drummer and the other a trombonist, each signed at the bottom in pencil, "David Stone Martin." Both prints bear facsimile signatures inherent to the image.  General toning and light wear to the edges, otherwise in fine condition.  Each 14.75 x 16.5 inches (37.5 x 42 cm.).

Signed Photograph with Her Husband

Uncommon signed photograph of the pioneering gospel singer, songwriter, and guitarist ca. 1962.  Tharpe, whose mixture of spiritual lyrics and electric guitar was an important early influence on rock and roll, has inscribed "May God / Bless / You / Always / Sister Rosetta Tharpe Morrison" in blue ink to the upper right portion of the image, which shows her seated and holding a Gretsch Anniversary model electric guitar while her manager and third husband, Russell Morrison, stands next to her with a cigarette in hand.  The address on the photograph, 1102 Master Street, Philadelphia, was the residence of Tharpe and Morrison, a brand new townhouse that had just been constructed, and which they purchased on March 29, 1962.  General toning and a few small light stains, several creases and small tears, mostly to margins but with two extending slightly into the image, one just touching the word "May" at the start of the inscription. 8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.4 cm.). Photograph taken following her return from Mexico

Original photograph of the Cuban ballerina taken immediately after disembarking a Cubana de Aviacion airplane.  A typed caption to verso, translated from the Spanish, reads "Alicia Alonso arrives at the Rancho Boyeros airport after the triumph of the Ballet Cubano in Mexico," and a handwritten label dates the photograph to May 1968.  Alonso can be seen just to right of center, laden with bouquets.  Wear to edges, surface crease to left margin, crease to lower right corner, else in fine condition.  10 x 7 inches (25.4 x 17.8 cm.).

"My! My! Didn't that show kill 'em!!!!?!" - Two Signed Letters

Pair of letters from the American dancer and actor to Sammy Berk, a former vaudeville entertainer who managed Cab Calloway, Jonah Jones, and Duke Ellington.  The first letter (autograph letter signed; "Saturday," otherwise undated; 1 p. on personal stationary) reads in full "Dear Sam, / Thanks for your letter.  I was very glad to hear from you. / Give my best to the great Jonah and to the boys – please.  I miss him a lot. / It was sure a great time we all had.  My!  My!  Didn't that show kill 'em!!!!?!  Don't know when I'll be able to get at another one but when I do – I sure hope to get Jonah! / All best Sam / -Fred."  The letter almost certainly refers to An Evening with Fred Astaire, the 1958 NBC television special that featured the Jonah Jones Quartet, revived Astaire's career, and won a staggering nine Emmy awards.  Vertical and horizontal mailing crease, overall in very good condition.  5.5 x 7 inches (14 x 17.8 cm.).
