Szeryng, Henryk. (1918–1988)
Signed original photograph of the great Polish-Mexican violinist showing the fiddler on stage with his violin, by Scheinder of Graz. An unusual image in pristine condition, signed and inscribed in 1981. 4 x 6 inches (12.5 x 17.5 cm.).
A student of Carl Flesch and (for composition) Nadia Boulanger, he had a major performing and recording career, and was a frequent collaborator of Arthur Rubinstein and Pierre Fournier. He became a naturalized Mexican citizen after visiting in 1941 on a mission to relocate Polish refugees from the Nazis, and he taught in Mexico for many years while maintaining an active concert career. One of the major violinists of the 20th century.
