[Beatles] Starr, Ringo. (b. 1940)

Ornamental incense ball - FROM THE COLLECTION OF RINGO STARR

A beautifully carved wooden ornamental incense ball from the collection of former Beatle, Ringo Starr. Likely of Indian origin and measuring 3.5 inches in diameter, with opening of 1.25 inches. In fine condition. Obtained at the historic 2015 Julien's sale of the Property of Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach.

In February 1968, The Beatles -- John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney -- travelled to Rishikesh, India in what is now Uttarakhand to learn transcendental meditation at the Chaurasi Kutia Ashram (now known as the Beatles Ashram) of Mahesh Yogi. The Beatles wrote around 48 songs during their seven-week stay there, including Ob-la-di, Ob-la-daBack In The USSR and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. It is possible that the present incense ball was obtained on that historic trip. (12543)
