Original doubleweight Binder of Berlin photograph of the great Russian bass. Stamped by the photographer to verso, with additional later stamps and mounting remnants to verso, crease to lower right corner and other wear along edges, overall fine. 6.6 x 8 .6 inches [16.5 x 22.5 cm].Of Swiss original, Alexander Binder specialized in portrait photography and became one of Germany's leading portrait photographers in the 1920s. Binder was represented at the 1st annual Berlin Photography exhibition in 1921 in the Berlin Museum of Decorative Arts and exhibited his own photographs in London from 1925 to 1926 . In the late 1920s and after his death, his studio was “Europe's largest… photo studio." (1590)
