Madeleine Escudier Lerolle (1856–1937) was the sister-in-law of Ernest Chausson and moved in the musical circles of Paris. Her husband was the painter and and art collector Henry Lerolle (1848–1929).

Albeniz's Prelude, part of his piano suite Espagne (Souvenirs), evokes the sunrise on the "poetic plain of Granada."

Autograph material by Albeniz is seldom offered for sale. We have traced only two other inscribed scores from the composer on the market in over 50 years of records. (17557)
