"The Good Earth" - Signed Souvenir Program

Souvenir souvenir program from the 1937 film The Good Earth, signed to cover by lead actress Luise Rainer, who won an Academy Award for her performance and has inscribed "To Paul / all the best / Luise Rainer."  In fine condition.  9 x 12 inches (22.9 x 30.5 cm.).  Together with numerous newspaper clippings related to the film, primarily reviews.

Rainer's Oscar for The Good Earth was her second in two years, after her 1936 Best Actress win for The Great Ziegfeld, making her simultaneously the first actor to win multiple Academy Awards and the first to do so in consecutive years.

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
