1889 "Vanity Fair" Portrait

A spirited portrait of the great violinist, a chromo-lithograph caricature published in the English weekly magazine Vanity Fair on May 25, 1889.  The artist Carlo Pellegrini, widely known as "Ape," was one of the most famous of the outstanding caricaturists who published in the magazine.  Small nick to upper left edge, strip of toning along top edge, else in fine condition. 10.5 x 15 inches (26.7 x 38.1 cm.).
