Collection of 25 photographs of the American actress and American playwright on their wedding day in New York, January 1960, including an original silver gelatin print by legendary photographer Richard Avedon, who has signed "Avedon" to the lower right, and 24 unsigned doubleweight black and white photographs of the couple's wedding reception, with some of other invited luminaries such as Phil Silvers, and including five photographs by Stanley Gold, with photographer's stamp to each verso. Accompanied by an original photograph of the couple on their 25th wedding anniversary, with a notation to lower right, together with four pristine copies and the original negative. Signed Avedon photograph measures 9 x 6.5 inches (22.9 x 16.5 cm.), heavy creasing throughout, with a small puncture to upper left; others various sizes and formats, overall very good.Adolph Green, the playwright, performer and lyricist who in a six-decade collaboration with Betty Comden, was co-author of such hit Broadway musicals as "On the Town" and "Bells Are Ringing," and the screenplays for "Singin' in the Rain" and "The Band Wagon." Two years following their marriage, in 1962, actress and singer Phyllis Newman won her first Tony Award as best featured actress in a musical for "Subways Are for Sleeping," whose book and lyrics were written by Green and Comden.
