"Lied für Confirmanten"

"Lied für Confirmanten" ("Song for Confirmants"), a German-language lyric text sheet published ca. 18th century by I. R. Weber featuring the lyrics to the hymn "Sei getreu bis in der Tod." The name "Sarah Matilda Schneider" is written in pencil to the upper margin. Heavy foxing and folding creases, overall in good condition. 8 x 8.5 inches (20.3 x 21.6 cm.).

Schmolck, a Lutheran living in Silesia, was "the most po­pu­lar Ger­man hymn writ­er of his time, hailed as the 'Si­le­sian Rist,' 'the se­cond Ger­hardt,' and the like."  He wrote some 900 hymns, penned for all sorts of oc­ca­sions, and his work was in common use all ov­er Ger­ma­ny.
