Lake, Veronica. (1922-1973)

Signed Actor's Equity Card

Actor's Equity Association card signed to verso by the American actress best known for her femme fatale roles in film noirs with Alan Ladd during the 1940s.  Stamped May 22, 1951, the card certifies that "Veronica Lake is a Junior Member in good standing."  Actor's Equity Association stamp embossed to recto.  Spotting to lower right corner, overall in fine condition.  3.75 x 2.5 inches (9.5 x 6.4 cm.).

A prominent film star through much of the 1940s, Lake's career began to decline in part due to her alcoholism.  Despite occasional guest appearances on television, her career never recovered, and she died at only 50 years old from hepatitis and acute kidney injury. (20964)
