Full-page lengthy AMQS from the Fifth Symphony of of the American composer and teacher, longtime head of the Juilliard School, composer of nine symphonies, several concertos, and numerous works for wind band, chorus, and other ensembles. His students included Jacob Druckman, Richard Danielpour, Karl Korte, Charles L. Bestor, Jack Behrens, and Claire Polin.



Eleven measures from the "Symphony no. 5," marked "Adagio" for Strings and Oboe, signed and inscribed in 1979. On a printed manuscript page measuring 8.5 x 11 inches. Fine.



Mennin's fifth symphony of 1950, which is tonal, energetic and suspenseful, was recorded by Howard Hanson and the Eastman Rochester Orchestra in the Mercury series of American classical works. (8484)
