Original Krziwanek of Vienna cabinet photograph of the violinist and composer, inscribed and signed by Sarasate on the verso to the important Austrian conductor, Emil Paur "A Monsieur Emile Paur, Sympathique souvenir - P. de Sarasate / Mannhiem 28 Oct. 81." 4.25 x 6.25 inches [10 x 15 cm]. Edges slightly trimmed, lower corners rounded, identification and the composer's dates written in another hand on the verso.

The Austrian conductor Emil Paur (1855 - 1932) began as a brilliant violinist and pianist in Vienna, but came to the United States in 1893 to follow Arthur Nikisch as conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Five years later, he succeeded Seidl as conductor of the New York Philharmonic. (9902)
