Original 1969 Handbill Flyer

Scarce original concert flyer for a 1969 concert advertising "The Exciting Tamla-Motown Star" Stevie Wonder, The Foundations "Build Me Up Buttercup," and "America's Glamorous Recording Stars" The Flirtations, appearing at the Odeon Theatre in Manchester on March 19.  The booking form on the lower margin remains completely intact and blank.  An incredible and rare example of 1960s Motown ephemera.  Mild toning throughout, with trifold creasing; overall in fine condition.  5.7 x 11.4 inches (14.5 x 29.8 cm.).

Original 1971 poster designed by Miró for a pair of Domaine Musical performances at the Theatre de la Ville in Paris.  Divided into two performances, each set that evening featured three pieces by Edgard Varèse and three pieces by Iannis Xenakis.  The first performance, at 6:30, included Octandre, Densité 21.5, and Poème électronique by Varèse alongside Herma, Diamorphoses, and ST/10 by Xenakis.  The second set at 8:30 included EcuatorialPoème électronique, and Déserts from Varèse, followed by the French premiere of Xenakis' Aroura, the premiere of a 4-track version of Hibiki Hana Ma, and Eonta.  Creasing to the lower margin, very slight foxing throughout; overall fine condition.  19.75 x 9 inches (50 x 23 cm.). "Pioneer of Modern Music Dies" – 1965 Obituary Press Photograph

Original Associated Press obituary Wirephoto of the influential French-born composer.  The text below the photograph reads "(NY 32–Nov. 6) PIONEER OF MODERN MUSIC DIES –– / Edgard Varese, regarded by many as the first man to think of music in three dimensions, died today in a New York hospital following surgery.  Varese, who was born in France and came to America after World War 1, was a pioneer of electronic music and acknowledged American master of the young avant-grade.  He was 82.  (AP Wirephoto) (See AP wire story) (nw72205fls) 1965."  AP stamp to verso together with the date November 6, 1965.  Minor crease markings not immediately noticeable; in overall fine condition.  5 x 7 inches (13.1 x 17.3 cm.). Printed within wide black border, the document providing an extensive listing of family members announcing their sorrow and concluding with the injunction to "Priez pour Lui!" Horizontal fold, else fine and sold with a similarly bordered envelope addressed to the violinist Joseph Debroux (1866 - 1924), dedicatee of works by Max Bruch and others. Read More...
