"Let us beat swords into ploughshares"

Soviet-era aluminum metal sculpture, 9 3/4 x 7 1/2 x 3 1/2 in.  Signed and inscribed in cyrillic, representing the figure of a man holding a hammer in one hand and, in the other, a sword which he is making into a plough share, symbolizing man's desire to put an end to war and convert the means of destruction into creative tools for the benefit of all mankind. A large bronze of this subject by Vuchetich is preserved at the United Nations, New York. Scattered staining and marks to metal, else very good.  Read More...
