Bronze Lyre Dedicated to Marmontel

Bronze monumental Lyre with medallion of Marmontel by Sébastien de Boisheraud after Charles Auguste Lebourg.   Illegible monogram on medallion, inscription to Marmontel on front "from his grateful students" ("ces eleves reconnaissants") signed on side and monogrammed "c Ji l" on back.  In fine condition, possibly missing element at top to which strings might have attached.  Approx. h. 20 inches (50.8 cm.). A very finely executed silhouette portrait of the legendary violinist, signed and dated by an unknown Continental artist "R.B. 1830" to the lower right and titled "Sig[nor] Paganini."
