101. [Jazz & Song] Rich, Buddy. (1917–1987).
"The Man from Planet Jazz" - Signed LP

UK pressing of the 1981 LP The Man from Planet Jazz by the jazz drummer and bandleader billed in his heyday as "the world's greatest drummer," known for his virtuoso technique, power, speed, and ability to improvise.  Rich has signed the record sleeve to verso, to the left of a portrait of him smiling broadly.  Released in the U.S. by DRG Records in 1980 under the title Live at Ronnie Scott's, the UK pressing was released the following year by Precision and features a similar cover.  Precision Records NSPL 18620.  Light ringing to cover, overall in very fine condition.  Record has not been playtested but appears to be NM+.

Waters, author of the 1960 book Jack Teagarden's Music: His Career and Recordings.  The archive includes two photographs of Teagarden, three clippings from unidentified sources, and three letters, including typed letters signed from Bing Crosby and This Is Your Life host Ralph Edwards.  All present items in fine condition, all three letters also including the original transmissal envelopes. Signed copy of the autobiography of the great ballerina, Nijinsky's dance partner at the Ballets Russes, inscribed and signed on the front free endpage ("To 'Pearl' and 'Feonna' in one / with love / Tamara Karsavina / 1930"). 341 pp. Plain photographic illustrations, blue cloth rather worn, lacking dust jacket. 


Karsavina's account of her early life at the Imperial Ballet School, and her subsequent career at the Marinsky Theatre and the Ballets Russes.

Program for an October 8, 1911 performance as part of the Season of Russian Ballet organized by Serge Diaghilev at the Royal Opera in Covent Garden.  The performance included the ballets “Giselle” and “Le Pavillon d’Armide”, starring Tamara Karsavina as Giselle and Armide and Waslaw Nijinsky as Loys and Armide’s captive, respectively.  4 pp, Finden Brown & Co.
